SRUCSA VP monthly blog – December 2014

SRUCSA VP monthly blog – December 2014

Overall as you’d kind of expect, with many students on holiday December was a quiet month. At the start of the month I attended at Christmas Jumper organised by the Aberdeen Campus Officers (CO’s), it was a fun night and good way for the students to end their term.

With the no students (including CO’s) on campus, I attended the Aberdeen Dean Group to represent students. I raised the heating/hot water issue being experience in halls and requested a rent discount/rebate for resident students. This issue is still not resolved but I can assure Aberdeen students that myself and the campus officers are continuing to work for an acceptable outcome for students from this situation.

During the month, Briony & I finalised our Student Partnership Agreement which was signed off on the 12th December. This is a major milestone for both SRUCSA & SRUC as we’re the first FE & HE institute to have one, the document formalises ways that we’ll work together to benefit students and will begin to be implemented in February.

Later in the week I travelled down through the snow to the Oatridge campus to attend the Academic Development Committee. The new SRUC handbook is being developed and I am there to ensure this document can be developed with student input.

The remaining days before Christmas were spent tidying up various pieces of work and ensuring the student survey on SRUC’s Future/Strategic Alignment was ready to be rolled out in the new year.

Whether you’re celebrating something or not, I hope everyone has a good winter break and I look forward to working you all again in the new year!

Nollaig chridheil agus bliadhna mhath ur / Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!
