An Owl Called Oddball

October

By the end of October all 6 campuses had held either freshers fayres or events for students. It was noted by staff and students that this years freshers fayre was a great success. l hope that in the coming years SRUC fresher’s fayres can be planned far in advance to give the best possible day/week for students. Campus Council meetings have started to occur every month to allow class representatives a chance to raise any issues on campus. I was notified that there had been a good turn out of class reps at meetings.

The HND Animal Care course invited my along to their trip to the Scottish Deer Centre one afternoon. Myself and Carly, Elmwood Campus Officer, tagged along and found out how important it was for these students to visit centres, zoos and aquariums to inspire them and talk with future employers. I also met a wee owl called Oddball! A bit like myself.

Myself and Alex also had a fair few of committees and meetings to attend. The most important one being when I sat on my first ever Big Board Meeting with stakeholders and the principle of SRUC.  I ensured that the student voice was heard especially with all the new talk of a strategic allignment with Edinburgh University. If you or any of your class mates have any questions or worries about the future of SRUC please contact either myself, Alex or your Campus Officer.
