National Rural Mental Health Forum Hustings

We reached out to Class Reps to find out what comments and questions they and their class had around rural mental health to raise at the hustings. Keith (Wildlife Conservation Management Student) came forward and highlighted that more needs to be done for those suffering from mental health crisis and the time it takes to get support.

Keith and Cara (North Co-President) attended the rural mental health hustings on the 5th March 2021 via Zoom. This event gave members of the public and organisations the opportunity to raise questions around mental health and influence those who make policy around rural mental healthMSPEmma Harper (SNP), Oliver Mundell (Con), Claudia Beamish (Lab), Alison Johnstone (Green) and Beatrice Wishart (LibDem) attended to answer questions.
Keith shared his own experience and asked MSPsHow do you propose to improve waiting times and access to psychiatry and psychological services for people suffering from mental health illness?”

You can read more about it and watch the recording from the below links.
