A Season of Fun Sport Events!
As you'll know by know (as you're probably an ardent reader of SRUCSA News) Scottish Student Sports (SSS) organise well over 100 sport events and competitions a year! British University and College Sports (BUCS) do so too. And best of all, this very Students' Association subscribes to both organisations which means that you can have an incredibly sporty student life.
How to take part? Well, please take a note of all the deadlines because some are lapsing soon. Then, contact Jeroen.Herk@sruc.ac.uk (he's our Active Campus Coordinator) to tell him you'd like to participate. He'll send you some details and discuss funding and voila... a couple of weeks later you'll find yourself feeling victorious with a medal around your neck, or just happy because you made some new mates.

BUCS Affiliations 2026-27
As part of BUCS regulations, certain sports must be affiliated to their local body.
- Volleyball – need to affiliate via the website - Membership - Scottish Volleyball

- Basketball – need to affiliate via the website - Clubs | Club Affiliation

- Women’s Football – SSS has worked closely with the SWFL and have entered all of your teams into the Comet system
- Women’s Football – each IA or designated contact will be sent an invoice to pay in order to become affiliated
- Men’s Football – each year, SSS works closely with the SFA as part of our partnership to affiliate all student clubs in Scotland and confirm this to BUCS on your behalf
- Men’s Football – Costs will be confirmed in the calendar year at the very latest
Volleyball, Basketball and Women’s Football Affiliations must be complete by the 18th of September – if not, BUCS may impose fines.
