Meet our new mascot, brand new and ready to boost our popularity as your fave SA. Is he as wise as you'd expect? How did we find this high flyer? And what are his hot takes? You read it here first!
Owl?
It has been a well-kept secret for two months now, but today we can finally reveal our very own mascot: Owl Powell! Today's much anticipated mascot launch puts SRUCSA in a very elitist branch (excuse the pun) of Student Associations who opted to include mascottery into the finer workings of their operations. Because this very owl is more than just a tree sitting bird, we would like to give you a little introduction.
Opinions
Associated with wisdom and intuition, owls are the vintage whiskey of the animal kingdom... A more refined creature, salient and omniscient. What we can definitely tell by the incredible challenge its capture posed is that this old owl has its feet high above the ground with its gaze upon the skyline, rather than venturing down below. Meanwhile, Owl Powell is full of opinions, wisdoms, maxims, and ideas.. and some very hot takes as we will explore further on.
A Word from the Bird
Because why describing our new addition when we can hear from our feathered friend ourselves? Our local SRUCSA Reporter was at the scene in the queue in KB's Atrium to interview the bird in question.
SR: Owel Po...
OP: Soup were you saying?
SR: eh? No. We haven't even started the interview. But I was...
OP: Well, I have a carrot coriander with a complimentary roll, but tomato would do for now.
SR: Is there anything you could tell about the way forward for SRUCSA?
OP: Well, I am very well aware of the optics.
SR: What optics?
OP: Well, it's interesting that carrot coriander is not at all times on the menu whilst you would expect them to cater for owls like myself a bit better.
SR: Where do you see yourself in 2 years.
OP: 10 did you say? Well, I may be a bit grey, but I intend to stay on for the next 10 to 15 years, maybe even a lifetime.
SR: And places would you like to visit whilst in tenure?
OP: I normally reside in KB, Craibstone, Buckingham Palace, Australia
SR: Elmwood?
OP: Just because it rhymes with Holyrood?
SR: It does not.
OP: Well, I'm not going.
SR: Which of the two?
OP: I'm going to find whatever branch I decide to sit on as described in our strategy?
SR: Ehm.. strategy?
OP: The SRUCSA one... we must invest. It has nice pictures and a beautiful foreword by me... and by our President.
SR: You mean Co-President.
OP: I'm still waiting on my carrot-coriander soup. Hope you paid.
SR: Tomato
