Would you like to take part in a new and empowering network with fellow female athletes? Woman's Sport Trust is offering an exciting female athlete development programme!
Information courtesy of Scottish Student Sport:
Applications are now open for the Women’s Sport Trust’s flagship athlete leadership and development programme - Unlocked.
Unlocked empowers athletes to use their own platforms, voices, and unique perspectives to create change, while coming together as a collective to shape the future of women’s sport.
Over 12 months, 35 athletes will join a powerful network of fellow athletes and mentors, gaining:
- Community - a supportive network of athletes facing similar challenges.
- Development -expert-led sessions on media, sponsorship, and career skills.
- Connections - one-to-one mentoring with senior leaders in sport, media, and business.
- Visibility - opportunities to raise their profile and amplify the issues they care about.
Since 2020, 111 athletes have completed the programme, going on to launch initiatives, step into leadership roles, and inspire change across sport and beyond.
Who we’re looking for:
- Current or former elite female athletes
- 18 or older
- Based in, or strongly connected to, the UK
- We are aiming for representation of sports, age, ethnicity, athletes, para-athletes, and location
- Most importantly, athletes who care about something - whether that’s tackling inequality, growing the visibility of their sport, using their platform to pursue leadership, influencing change in governance, or advocating for causes close to their heart. They don’t need to have acted on it yet, just the passion to want to.
Anyone who has been connected to Unlocked will say that it’s a brilliant programme; it is truly transformative for the athletes and industry alike. As an Unlocked alumna myself, from the 2020 cohort, I know first-hand how transformative it can be.
Please find the full details in information pack (also attached) or on our website. Note that applications close at 5pm (BST) on Wednesday 8th October 2025.
