Hotter Takes and even Tougher Questions

Few held it possible another person could be found to willingly take the ultimate grilling after the publication of our first edition of Hot Takes and Hot Questions. Nevertheless, miracles never cease! And in this edition that miracle is Digital Content Officer, Blair Mcmahon.

Blair is a man who needs no introduction. Big chance you have already attended his recent photography lecture. Yet more fame and notoriety he has found behind the camera, making much loved videos. 

However, all that fame may have gelled him into thinking he can take a grilling or two, no matter how tough. Whether he's right or dead wrong is up to you to decide in this edition of Hot Takes and Tough Questions.

Blair, do you like sneezing?

The satisfaction you get from sneezing is right up there with winning the Christmas family quiz or reaching the summit of a mountain. At least I imagine it is, I’ve never done either of those things.

I’ve heard you have some hot takes, what are your cold takes?

The Beatles are underrated.

You like filming stuff, what do you like filming best?

Scripted fiction. On my phone, at the back of the cinema. I’m the guy they warn you about.

So naughty. What’s the funniest scene you’ve ever shot?

Jack Wills emerging from behind a tree, for no reason, before delivering his line.

Improv genius Jack.

Who is the worst actor you’ve worked with?

Answering that might lose me my job, as the answer is most definitely my boss. So, I’ll say Tom Cruise was an absolute nightmare. He tried to get me to join some weird cult between takes. We can redact the first bit, right? Right?

Nah, but you're cordially invited to your own leave party which we've planned at the end of this month. What is it like to commit a crime?

Just like sneezing. And being asked to leave the cinema.

What do you think is very very clever?

Me when I win a board game.

Interesting. What do you think is pretty dumb?

Me when I lose a board game.

Also interesting. If animals are so great, why does nothing rhyme with animal other than cannibal?

Eminem would have something to say about that.

Yeah, probably "orange". On the topic of food, what takeaway would you give back?

Anything too spicy.

Would you like to take the opportunity to say something disparaging about someone?

I don’t like asparagus, sorry.

How about something that could get you cancelled?

Pineapple belongs on pizza.

A horse, sheep and pig walk into a bar. Why?

SRUC is doing even better than we could have imagined!

Fair enough. Ok, end this sentence…

What charity do you hate the most and why?

West Dunbartonshire Council. Something about bin collection and not cutting the grass.

Lastly, any advice you want to give to students?

If you can figure out what you’re passionate about, and if you can make money from it, you should absolutely invest your time and energy into pursuing it whilst you still have time and energy.
