Belhelvie Community Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and community-focused Trust Ranger to join our growing team. Part-time: 18 hours per week Fixed term: 1 year Salary: £16,000 per annum Location: Belhelvie Parish, (mostly Balmedie) Aberdeenshire This is a unique opportunity to inspire people of all ages to connect with the outstanding natural environment, heritage and community spaces across Belhelvie Parish. While the Trust Ranger role shares a connection with traditional countryside and conservation work, its focus is distinctly community-led. This is a people-centred role, encouraging participation, learning and stewardship and helping local residents and visitors develop a lifelong appreciation of the landscapes, wildlife and communities that make our parish special. The successful candidate will work closely with the Coordinator and volunteers at The Sand Bothy in Balmedie Country Park, BCT’s existing community groups, Balmedie Primary School, families, volunteers and partner organisations throughout the parish. The role will include delivering outdoor learning and family activities; supporting volunteers and community projects; developing environmental education and interpretation; encouraging conservation and citizen science; supporting beach cleans and habitat projects; and helping us make full use of The Sand Bothy as an outdoor learning and community engagement hub. Essential Applicants should have: * Experience working with children, families or community groups * Experience delivering educational, environmental or community activities * Experience organising events or coordinating volunteers * The ability to work independently and as part of a team * A good understanding of environmental education and conservation principles * An understanding of safeguarding, health and safety and risk assessment * A commitment to accessibility and inclusive outdoor spaces * A relevant qualification in Environmental Education, Community Development, Countryside Management, Outdoor Learning, Ecology, or equivalent practical experience * A full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle * PVG Scheme membership, or willingness to obtain this, which is essential for the role Desirable * Outdoor First Aid qualification * Knowledge of local wildlife and habitats, although a willingness to develop this knowledge is equally welcomed We are looking for someone friendly, approachable and creative who is confident working with people of all ages, comfortable working outdoors throughout the seasons and genuinely enthusiastic about helping our community connect with and care for the places around them.
